Teachers

When to use:

  • When a child is struggling to maintain focus and attention or sit still during table top activities because their feet are not touching the ground.
  • Children need to feel grounded and be fully supported during seated activities, especially if they do not have a strong trunk/core to support them.
  • It is difficult to swallow, chew, write, draw when your body is not grounded or supported.

How to use:

  • If a child is slipping out of their chair (falling forward or slipping to the slide) it may suggest that they are unable to maintain their position due to their height. Provide a footstool/footrest so they can support their position.

  • This is especially important to provide for activities such as eating and using the toilet (a child’s feet should always be grounded).
