Teachers
When to use:
- Provide a safe place to crash and land but it also works on a child’s body awareness, core muscles and can also provide pressure/compression.
- A great option for structured large motor times.
How to use:
- Crash pads are great because they can be used for large motor: crashing and jumping, or “swimming”.
- For crashing: use with caution, especially in classroom settings. Limit to 1 child jumping at a time. Can be added as part of an obstacle course.
- “Swimming”:: set on floor and have kids “swim” from one side to the other (it’s a great core work-out).

When to use:
- Crash pads should be used with parental supervision during times of more “structured” large motor play indoors.
- A great option when you are stuck inside but your child needs some hard, heavy movement. If your child is climbing furniture, jumping on furniture and can’t sit still, it is a great time to break out the crash pad.
How to use:
- Set up the crash pad in a space that has plenty of room and not a lot of obstructions.
- You may want to set up a higher surface where a child can safely stand to jump into the crash pad.
- Be sure to limit the crash pad to 1 child at a time.
- Crash pads can also be used for calming times: reading books, and snuggles.
